Job Title: HR Business Partner (Portugal)
At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85 000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.
More than a job: a mission
We're looking for an HR Business Partner to lead the People & Culture agenda in Portugal, partnering with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, compliance, and business transformation. You will play a key role in shaping the employee experience while ensuring alignment between business priorities and people strategies. You'll work alongside people who show up with ownership, passion, and dedication - because they know what's at stake: the journey home.
Your role, your impact
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on organizational design, talent management, workforce planning, and performance-related decisions
- Lead employee relations activities and ensure compliance with Portuguese labour legislation and internal policies
- Drive workforce planning, budgeting, organizational changes, and transformation initiatives
- Localize and deploy global HR programs related to talent, leadership, engagement, and diversity & inclusion
- Partner with employee representatives and works councils to foster constructive social dialogue
- Monitor key HR metrics such as headcount, attrition, absenteeism, engagement, and performance, turning insights into action plans
- Coach managers on leadership effectiveness, communication, employee development, and accountability
You'll work with sharp, committed teams across, engineering, operations and design - solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility.
What you bring
- Extensive experience in HR Business Partner or HR Generalist roles, ideally within multinational environments
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese labour law and experience handling complex employee relations matters
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate HR analytics into business actions
- Experience supporting organizational change, workforce planning, and talent initiatives
- Fluent English and Portuguese; Spanish is an advantage
How success is measured
- Effective implementation of people strategies aligned with business objectives
- Employee relations outcomes and compliance with labour regulations
- Improvement in key HR KPIs such as engagement, attrition, absenteeism, and workforce effectiveness
- Quality of partnerships with business leaders, employees, and employee representatives
- Delivery and impact of talent, performance, and cultural initiatives
Alstom, a great place to grow
- Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
- Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
- Contribute to innovative projects
- Utilise our cooperative working environment
- Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
- Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
- Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage
Here, progress isn't always easy - the scale is massive, the tasks are complex - but the impact is real. Because when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects - that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
