Advanced Solutions, Manager

The Advanced Solutions team within Data Science and Digital Health is focused on seamlessly fusing people, processes & technology to reimagine how you use data to drive decisions. At our core, we keep use-ability of at the center of all we do to ensure we reduce barriers to interpreting data by the Global Development Organization and Innovative Medicine.

The Advanced Solutions, Manager will analyze and evaluate user needs and data to create concepts, prototypes and iterate on ideas. The Advanced Solutions, Manager should be creative enough to imagine new possibilities, but also technical enough to explain those goals to technical teams. The Advanced Solutions, Manager works most effectively at the sweet spot between User Experience (UX), Technology and Business and can concisely communicate across stakeholders at various levels of the organization cross-functionally. After uncovering the needs of the business, the role takes ownership and makes sure the right solution goes into production.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customer groups and lead solution development from concept to completion for small to medium sized initiatives and support other resources for larger initiatives.

  • Create user-friendly solutions using techniques grounded in UX and design thinking principles to uncover optimal user experiences with available technologies

  • Develop a summary of results for presentation to clients at various levels of the organization in the business terms they understand. A key ability is to concisely summarize concepts and clearly call out the implications for the business.

  • Generate mock-ups and user requirements which can be used by IT and other technical vendor partners to build new or enhanced solutions

  • Work with other functional teams as needed to access data elements, understand the data being analyzed, and identify potential for solutions.

  • Capture, translate, communicate, and advocate findings from customer research to partners and internal teams

  • Collaborate closely with our agile product teams, business SME's, product owners, designers, business analysts and technologists to build business cases and solution prototypes

  • Design, drive and facilitate solutioning workshops with partners

  • Shapes, designs, and provides oversight on the build of solutions. Incorporates feedback on prototypes and iterates continuously to improve user experience and customer engagement.

  • Supports user training, acts as an ambassador of the solution, and partners with project teams to ensure smooth launch and adoption.

  • Provide oversight to service providers to on delivery timelines, prioritization, appropriate time periods for delivery, and instruction at a level of detail needed to complete the work.

Principal Relationships:

Contacts inside the company may include representatives & executives from: across Global Development and the Theraputic areas. Additional JJ IM partners including, but not limited to, Team Leaders from J&J Technology Leadership & Finance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required

Preferred course work is in quantitative, scientific or business fields

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years work experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics, general technology delivery, business-focused solutioning, and/or equivalent relevant experience

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in problem framing, design thinking, and analytics techniques is required

  • Must demonstrate a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analysis concepts

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Sense of urgency to deliver while maintaining top quality "for what is good enough"

  • Excellent partnering skills to foster collaboration across organizational boundaries

  • Committed, inquisitive self-starter with an ability to learn quickly and challenge the status-quo

  • Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated consulting, leadership and client management skills

  • Able to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines

  • Leadership skills including: overall business perspective, big picture problem solving with attention to detail, interpersonal skills, excellent presentation and communication skills
