Volta is the category-defining, fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform - from capital to clusters to software, under a founder-led enterprise. Our mission is The Utility of Compute™: AI infrastructure as dependable and available as electricity, for every organization that needs it. Launched with a $10B strategic partnership with one of the leading frontier AI labs, a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, and a $5B AI Infrastructure Fund, Volta is building the infrastructure layer of the AI era from the ground up. We are 100+ people across London, Palo Alto, and New York, with rapid growth expectations to hundreds.
Volta is building AI factories across Europe and North America, starting with a 133MW site in Norway built on NVIDIA Vera Rubin systems. As Global Quality Lead, you will own quality across all of our AI factories - from vendor quality and factory acceptance through site inspection to the test and commissioning standards that prove a facility is ready for compute.
You will build the function from the ground up. You will set Volta's quality strategy, standards and management system, provide functional leadership to the quality resources embedded in each project team, and build the assurance programmes that keep every site to standard.
This is a senior, hands-on role reporting to the Chief Delivery Officer. You will work closely with Safety, Design and Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, the regional delivery teams and the DSX Commissioning and Handover team. In an organisation built on repeatable delivery, quality is what makes repetition worth having.
• Own Volta's quality strategy, standards and quality management system across all projects, in Europe and North America.
• Build and lead the global quality function, providing functional leadership to the quality resources embedded in each project team.
• Set inspection and test plan standards for every major package - civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and controls.
• Build vendor quality and factory surveillance programmes for critical equipment, working with Procurement on supplier qualification and factory acceptance testing.
• Own non-conformance management and drive root-cause resolution across all of our sites.
• Set the quality standards that underpin commissioning from level 1 through level 5, working with the Commissioning and Handover team on the path to turn-up.
• Run quality audits and assurance reviews across active sites, and hold contractors and partners to standard.
• Embed right-first-time practices and make sure lessons learned on one site carry to the next.
• Report quality performance to the CDO and leadership team, with clear metrics and trends.
• Quality leadership on data centre or mission-critical construction programmes. Data centre experience is essential.
• A track record running quality at programme or portfolio level, across multiple concurrent projects and regions.
• Experience building or running a quality management system from scratch, ideally aligned to ISO 9001.
• Deep familiarity with commissioning practice on complex, MEP-heavy facilities.
• A strong record in vendor quality and factory acceptance for critical equipment such as switchgear, UPS, generators, chillers and CDUs.
• Structured root-cause problem solving and clear, data-led reporting.
• The credibility to hold projects, contractors and suppliers to standard.
• Willingness to travel regularly to sites and factories across Europe and North America
