The Mainframe Storage Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient, secure, and reliable operation of the organization's mainframe storage environment. This position is responsible for the end-to-end management of storage devices-including DASD, tape, and virtual storage-while maintaining data integrity, availability, and performance across the enterprise's mainframe systems.
In this role, the administrator will perform daily storage management activities such as SMS routines, DASD pool monitoring, and housekeeping batch jobs, while also providing on-call support as needed. The role requires deep technical expertise in troubleshooting complex storage issues, configuring hardware at the device level, and leading disaster recovery efforts to safeguard business continuity. The Mainframe Storage Administrator will also evaluate and implement new storage technologies to meet evolving business needs, ensuring the organization's mainframe infrastructure remains resilient, scalable, and secure.
This position offers the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively, providing technical leadership during outages and disaster recovery drills, mentoring peers through change review processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of storage management practices across a complex, multi-location mainframe environment.
