Join COLIBRIX ONE - Innovating the Future of Payments

At COLIBRIX ONE*, we're building advanced, AI-powered payment technologies that support Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), and neobanks across the EU and the UK. As a fully licensed Electronic Money Institution (FCA Reference No. 927920) and holder of a Financial Institution Licence issued by the MFSA, as well as a principal member of both VISA and Mastercard, we provide comprehensive, real-world financial solutions that include:

  • Global card processing
  • Digital wallet infrastructure
  • Cross-border merchant accounts
  • Alternative payment methods (APMs)
  • Corporate accounts for legal entities

We're a fast-growing team with a passion for innovation, security, and scalability. Our culture values curiosity, collaboration, and impact - and we're looking for talented professionals who are ready to shape the future of fintech.

At COLIBRIX ONE, your work directly powers the digital economy. If you're eager to solve meaningful challenges and build with purpose, we'd love to hear from you.

About The Role

As a Merchant Onboarding & Underwriting Specialist, you will act as a key bridge between clients, commercial teams, and the AML/Compliance department.

Your primary responsibility will be to review merchant applications, websites, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness, consistency, and quality before submission to AML.

You will play a critical role in improving onboarding efficiency by ensuring that only well-prepared and structured client files are passed to AML for final review, reducing turnaround times and minimizing follow-up requests.

This role does not perform final AML decision-making. Instead, it focuses on pre-AML review, documentation quality control, and case preparation to ensure efficient and streamlined processing by the AML/Compliance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform initial onboarding review of new merchant applications before AML submission
  • Review merchant websites to ensure alignment with declared business activity and compliance requirements
  • Verify completeness and quality of KYC, corporate, and legal documentation
  • Identify missing, inconsistent, outdated, or insufficient documents and request corrections from clients
  • Conduct initial underwriting-style assessment of the merchant profile (business model, geography, volumes, risk indicators)
  • Ensure consistency across client-provided information, documentation, and website content
  • Prepare structured and complete client files for submission to AML/Compliance
  • Act as the main point of contact between clients/commercial teams and AML during onboarding
  • Reduce back-and-forth communication by ensuring high-quality first-time submissions
  • Maintain clear documentation, checklists, and onboarding records
  • Support continuous improvement of onboarding and pre-AML processes

What you need to succeed in this role

  • 2+ years of experience in merchant onboarding, acquiring, underwriting, or KYC operations
  • Practical experience reviewing merchant websites and corporate/KYC documentation
  • Knowledge of Visa and Mastercard payment systems requirements and operations
  • Understanding of merchant risk profiles and payment industry specifics
  • Familiarity with AML/CDD/EDD principles and risk-based onboarding
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies across data sources
  • Experience working with legal and corporate document packages
  • Excellent written communication skills (ability to clearly request and explain document requirements)
  • Professional proficiency in Russian and English
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, onboarding, and compliance teams
  • Experience in fintech, PSP, EMI, or acquiring environments is a strong advantage

What we offer

  • Opportunity to shape the future of fintech solutions within a growing company
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment
  • English / Spanish classes
  • Opportunity to receive reimbursement for work-related training/courses

* This position is offered within the COLIBRIX ONE. Employment will be under the appropriate legal entity based on the role and location.
