TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

We are a small studio, hyper-focused on only one thing: creating a masterpiece. We are exploring a well-known IP and pushing the limits of perfection. We believe that true innovation stems from a balance of experience and the courage to explore the unknown.

The founders and leaders of Bespoke Pixel have extensive experience shipping world-class entertainment. We are independent and fully funded.

THE STUDIO & THE ROLE

We are currently looking for a Technical Director to join our studio in Barcelona!

This is a unique, high-impact role that bridges strategic technical leadership with hands-on development. You will help steer our technical architecture while remaining close to the code, features, and day-to-day implementation.

Since we are a small team in the startup phase, all employees are expected to wear multiple hats and handle some ambiguity. You will be an important cornerstone of Bespoke Pixel, expected to share your ideas, make a tangible impact, and help scale our engineering culture.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This is a dynamic role that will vary day-to-day, involving:

  • Studio and Production Partnership: Partner closely with studio leadership and production to deliver milestones, mitigate risks, evaluate technical solutions, and align engineering effort with broader product goals.

  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Act as a bridge between engineering and other departments (Art, Design), helping disparate disciplines understand technical constraints and programming issues while finding elegant ways to translate creative vision into production reality.

  • Technical Oversight and Code Quality: Execute our shared vision with meticulous attention to detail, establishing technical guidelines, conducting code reviews, and ensuring systemic consistency across the entire software stack.

  • Strategic & Hands-on Development: Actively prototype, iterate, and optimize core systems and features in Unreal Engine 5 alongside our world-class team.

  • Mentorship & Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the leading technical resource within the studio, educating, aiding, and mentoring team members to improve our collective production and development processes.

  • Cultivate Engineering Excellence: Lead by example across the board, modeling clean code architecture, efficient workflows, and a shared dedication to quality.

  • Performance & Quality: Lead the studio's effort to profile and optimize the game to ensure players enjoy a consistent, high-quality experience across multiple platforms and hardware standards.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We think your profile looks something like this:

  • Unreal Engine and C++ : Knowledge of Unreal Engine architecture, memory management, and network replication systems. You must have a record of shipping titles in a leadership or senior position.

  • Leadership & Mindset: A desire to articulate improvements in development workflows, paired with a mature, calm, and focused mindset when things get challenging.

  • Clear Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to artists, engineers, and designers alike.

  • Data & Quality Driven: Someone who values refining systems, trusts playtests to evaluate technical progress, and balances creativity with practical constraints.

OUR OFFER

We are true believers in our core values-friendliness, professional curiosity, and honesty- and in that spirit, we offer a fair, healthy, and sustainable workplace.

As an employee, you will get:

  • Competitive salary.

  • 5 weeks of paid vacation annually.

  • Free private health insurance.

  • Monthly stipend for meals and transportation.

  • A yearly allowance for books or courses for personal and professional development.

From our office in central Barcelona, we offer a beautiful workspace featuring a rooftop terrace with great views over the city and a vibrant community, and regular team events and after-work hangouts.

At Bespoke Pixel, we work on-site in Barcelona 5 days a week. Living here or being willing to relocate is a must, and we are ready to assist with relocation for the right candidate.
