Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of new Traveller Payments features within Booking.com's Fintech Products, collaborating closely with other native iOS developers.

• Work with the broader Payments & Fintech Mobile Apps teams to deliver a seamless, secure, and consistent payments experience across mobile platforms.

• Ensure the highest quality of the Booking.com app in production by monitoring crashes, handling payment-related incidents, debugging complex issues, and leading incident investigations when required.

• Take ownership of critical payments flows that involve various payment methods ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.

• Proactively mentor colleagues, support their professional growth, and play a key role in onboarding new team members within the Fintech domain.

• Continuously improve the payments services you own by optimizing performance, resilience, and resource usage, especially for high-traffic and high-risk flows.

• Ensure Traveller Payments features remain compliant with the latest technology standards, security practices, and internal Fintech guidelines.

• Meet and exceed service-level agreements for test coverage, quality, and reliability by implementing robust testing strategies and quality processes.

• Perform profiling to identify performance bottlenecks in payment flows, optimize app responsiveness, and ensure key metrics are monitored for overall app and payments health.

• Translate business, regulatory, and product requirements (e.g. conversion, fraud prevention, compliance) into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.

• Prioritize and resolve issues based on traveller impact, financial risk, and business criticality.

• Collaborate closely with iOS engineers, backend engineers, product owners, designers, data analysts, risk, and quality specialists to continuously improve the traveller payments experience.

• Contribute to Booking.com's growth through interviewing, onboarding, and other recruitment efforts within the Fintech and Payments engineering community.

Skills Required

• 3+ years of experience as an iOS Developer using Swift, preferably working on complex, user-facing products.

• Strong knowledge of Swift, SwiftUI, Cocoa, and Xcode, with experience building production-grade applications.

• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and a strong passion for high-quality software development.

• Extensive experience writing automated tests, including Unit Tests and Snapshot/UI tests, particularly for critical user flows.

• Proven ability to work as a self-starter, taking initiative to solve problems in a large-scale, high-impact environment such as Fintech.

• Strong interest in exploring new technologies, tools, and best practices, especially in payments, security, and mobile performance.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• High attention to detail, especially important in financial and transactional systems.

• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and collaborative attitude.

• Fully comfortable working in English, both written and spoken.

Bonus Points For

• Experience with Apple App Store approval and distribution processes, including Ad Hoc and Enterprise distribution.

• Having built and shipped an approved App Store app, ideally involving payments or sensitive user data.

• Experience with A/B testing, experimentation, and data-driven product improvements.

• Familiarity with payments, checkout flows, fraud prevention, or financial compliance on mobile platforms.

• Passion for open source contributions and sharing knowledge with the wider engineering community.

• Willingness to tackle deep, complex technical challenges at massive scale, especially within Fintech and Payments ecosystems.

Strong curiosity about technological innovation, staying up to date with the latest trends in mobile development, security, and financial technology.
